Unathi Mangesi: Where Purpose Meets Creativity

Unathi Mangesi: Where Purpose Meets Creativity

Visionary Storyteller | CEO of Nu Elevé | Purpose-Driven Creative Leader

“I pause and revisit my why — because peace of mind is priceless.”

In a world where digital noise often drowns out authenticity, Unathi Mangesi has built something sacred. The Eastern Cape-born visionary, storyteller, and CEO of Nu Elevé believes that every brand carries a purpose — and her mission is to help it rise.

A Bold Child, A Fearless Voice

Curiosity was Unathi’s first teacher.

“I was loud, bubbly, and full of life,” she says with a laugh. “Some told me to quiet down because girls ‘shouldn’t be too loud,’ but that boldness shaped me.”

That vibrant energy would later become her superpower — fueling a life and career built on expression, courage, and connection.

“My curiosity made me who I am. It helped me find my voice — and taught me to help others find theirs.”

Nu Elevé: The Brand With Heart

Nu Elevé isn’t your typical agency — it’s a calling. The company offers brand strategy, digital marketing, and creative direction, but what truly sets it apart is the heart behind the work.

“We don’t just build brands,” Unathi says. “We build stories that align with calling, culture, and impact. Every brand we touch is treated as sacred — a vessel for influence and purpose.”

Turning Ideas Into Identity

Many entrepreneurs struggle to translate their vision into a digital presence that truly resonates. That’s where Nu Elevé steps in.

Through strategy, design, and storytelling, the agency helps brands find their unique voice and show up authentically online.

“It’s not just about aesthetics,” Unathi emphasizes. “It’s about alignment — making sure what you put out matches who you are.”

Rooted in Purpose

Unathi’s reason for doing business goes beyond profit. “I’ve always been passionate about storytelling and guiding others toward clarity. Business became the perfect way to merge creativity, faith, and strategy — while also creating opportunities for others.”

The Hustle and the Lessons

Like most great beginnings, Nu Elevé’s early days were tough. “Our biggest challenge was finding clients who truly aligned with our vision,” she recalls. “We had to be resourceful, intentional, and consistent. Every small project was a seed for the next opportunity.”

“We worked with what we had — faith, skill, and vision. That was enough.”

That faith continues to guide her — even when faced with decisions that test her values. “If something doesn’t align with our purpose, I’d rather walk away. Integrity over quick gain — every time.”

Reinvention and Growth

There came a time when Nu Elevé had to pause and pivot. “We realized we were saying yes to too many things outside our core strengths,” she admits. “Refocusing was hard, but necessary. Once we realigned with our purpose, everything flourished — our creativity, our confidence, and our clarity.”

Leading With Vision

Looking ahead, Unathi sees Nu Elevé expanding across Africa and globally, becoming a creative hub for purpose-led brands. “We want to create more jobs, mentor young women, and influence culture positively through faith, innovation, and excellence.”

“The vision, the people, and the impact of our work — that’s what gets me out of bed every morning.”

Unathi’s Golden Advice

“Start where you are, with what you have. Clarity comes through action.”

Her advice to aspiring entrepreneurs is simple yet profound: “Don’t wait for perfect conditions. Be consistent, stay true to your values, and grow intentionally. Meaningful things take time.”

One mistake she once saw as failure — trying to do everything herself — eventually became her strength. “It taught me the process behind every detail. Now, when I delegate, I do so with empathy and understanding.”

The Book That Grounded Her

Unathi’s go-to read is The Hard Thing About Hard Things by Ben Horowitz. “It’s honest, raw, and real. It reminds me that leadership isn’t about knowing everything — it’s about showing up with resilience and grace.”
