Founder of Mphokeng TV Podcast | Media Producer | Digital Storyteller

A Creative Rooted in Purpose

Driven by passion and community spirit, Tebogo Mphokeng describes himself as more than a media producer — he is a storyteller on a mission to inspire change. As the founder and producer of Mphokeng TV Podcast, his work reflects a deep commitment to authentic storytelling that celebrates everyday people, challenges stereotypes, and sparks meaningful dialogue.

“I believe storytelling is not just entertainment — it’s education, healing, and empowerment,” he says.

From Curiosity to Creativity

Growing up in Mamelodi, Pretoria, Mphokeng was naturally curious — fascinated by how words, visuals, and sound could shape perspectives. Even without access to high-end tools, he began experimenting with basic recording devices, capturing community stories that often went unnoticed by mainstream media.

Those early efforts would later plant the seed for what would become Mphokeng TV Podcast — a thriving digital platform merging journalism, creativity, and community engagement.

Building a Platform for the People

Founded in Pretoria, Mphokeng TV Podcast produces interviews, talk shows, and documentary-style features that highlight social issues, rising talent, and inspiring life stories. What separates it from traditional outlets is its unfiltered authenticity — a storytelling approach deeply rooted in African culture, language, and lived experiences.

“Our stories deserve to be told in our own voices,” Mphokeng emphasizes. “We focus on narratives that represent who we are and where we come from.”

Creating Impact Through Representation

For Mphokeng, the goal has never been fame or clicks. His mission is to fill a critical gap in representation — giving visibility to ordinary people with extraordinary stories of hope, resilience, and transformation.

Lessons in Resilience

Like many young creators, Mphokeng faced immense challenges starting out. The biggest obstacle was access to resources — production tools, reliable studio space, and funding. But instead of allowing those setbacks to define him, he embraced innovation.

He began with what he had: a phone, a small space, and an unshakable vision — “Start where you are, use what you have.”

Purpose Over Perfection

Mphokeng’s story embodies the belief that success isn’t measured by perfection, but by persistence and purpose. Today, Mphokeng TV Podcast enjoys a growing audience both locally and abroad, connecting deeply through honest, relatable storytelling.

Adapting to Change

Originally launched as an audio-only platform, the podcast expanded into video production and social media storytelling — allowing viewers to connect more deeply with the faces behind the stories.

Looking Ahead: A Vision Beyond the Mic

Over the next 3–5 years, Mphokeng envisions transforming Mphokeng TV Podcast into a national multimedia powerhouse, producing original shows, documentaries, and training programs for young storytellers.

Integrity at the Core

“If something doesn’t align with what I stand for, I’d rather walk away,” he says. “Your values are your brand.”

Words of Wisdom

“Don’t wait for everything to be perfect. Perfection doesn’t start the journey — action does. Start with what you have, stay consistent, and trust your vision.”
