“Start with what you have, where you are. Don’t wait for everything to be perfect. Learn along the way, adapt fast, and never lose your authenticity.” — Monde Shange

Who Is Monde Shange?

Monde Shange

Monde Shange is an entrepreneur and creative visionary from Harrismith, South Africa, passionate about building businesses that bring people together, create jobs, and showcase township pride. He leads several ventures across food, media, and lifestyle — including his beloved kota business, The Venting Podcast, RingUs Podcast, and hospitality projects like Kasi Hub.

For Monde, entrepreneurship isn’t just about business — it’s about community, empowerment, and legacy.

Growing Up

“I grew up curious and hardworking, always seeking ways to create something from nothing.”

Despite humble beginnings, his upbringing taught him resilience, creativity, and the power of seeing opportunity where others saw obstacles. These early life lessons laid the foundation for his entrepreneurial journey.

Monde Shange Kota Business

Monde’s kota business is not your typical food venture. It’s a movement that celebrates township culture, local ingredients, and affordable luxury. Each meal tells a story — of community, survival, and the joy of sharing.

“Our kota is not just food — it’s culture on a plate. It’s something that connects people.”

Beyond delicious meals, his business creates employment opportunities in areas with high youth unemployment, giving purpose and pride back to the community.

A Business for the People

Monde’s enterprises address two major challenges — in food and media — offering affordable quality while giving locals a voice and livelihood.

“We’re not just running businesses — we’re building platforms for expression, pride, and opportunity.”

Book Recommendation: The Lean Startup by Eric Ries — a book Monde credits for shaping his entrepreneurial mindset. “It teaches the importance of starting small, testing ideas, and adapting fast,” he says.

Purpose and Vision

“I’m here to create opportunities where there are none, uplift communities, and build a legacy for my late son and family,” he says.

In the next 3–5 years, he envisions expanding his kota business into a national franchise and transforming his media platforms into Africa’s leading conversation spaces.

Lessons, Challenges & Growth

Funding was Monde’s biggest challenge. With limited capital, he had to rely on creativity and consistency to grow step-by-step. That struggle became his greatest teacher, sharpening his resilience and business instincts.

“That struggle became my teacher. It made me stronger, sharper, and more grounded.”

Integrity remains his guiding principle — “If something goes against my values, I walk away. You can lose a deal, but never your soul.”
