Connie Matlejoane: Building Brands and Empowering Communities

Connie Matlejoane: Building Brands and Empowering Communities

October 2, 2025

Connie Matlejoane

Connie Matlejoane is a South African entrepreneur and business leader from Klipfontein View in Midrand, Johannesburg. She is the founder and CEO of the branding company CRM Enterprise and the founder of the non-profit Leruo Foundation.

Growing Up with Determination

“I grew up in the rural village of Tiyani, Magorho, in Limpopo, where my grandmother raised me with care and discipline while my mother worked hard in Johannesburg.”

From her earliest years, she embraced confidence—debating, acting in dramas, and excelling in netball and athletics. After school, she sharpened her English and Math skills by watching educational programs like Take 5 and Mr. Smith, while also learning Afrikaans through 7de Laan. Her grandmother’s encouragement fueled her pursuit of excellence, ensuring that she never missed an opportunity, whether in academics or extracurricular activities.

CRM Enterprise: Branding with Purpose

At CRM Enterprise, Connie leads a team of branding experts specializing in corporate gifts, promotional products, PPE, vehicle branding, signage, and branded clothing. What makes them unique is their quick turnaround time and ability to accommodate small quantities for smaller businesses.

“We are branding experts specializing in corporate gifts.”

Solving Real Business Problems

Connie understands the marketing power of promotional products:

“Promotional products work. They’re affordable, effective, and long-lasting.”

Challenges and Resilience

Starting out, the biggest challenge was accessing corporate clients. The industry runs on bulk orders with tight margins, making it tough for smaller players to compete.

Later, during the Covid-19 pandemic, she pivoted quickly by incorporating PPE and hygiene products into her services and strengthening her CRM Connect Internet Café. This diversification not only helped the business survive but also opened new income streams.

Why She Does It

At first, her mission was simple—support her family. But as her business grew, her vision expanded: to empower young people, create jobs, and drive township economic growth.

“I am passionate about my work and understand that my seven employees depend on me to bring in business so they can receive their paychecks at the end of the month. I also strive to be a role model for my children, showing them that if you want a better life, you must work hard for it.”

Looking Ahead

In the next 3–5 years, Connie envisions building a state-of-the-art branding factory and a walk-in PPE shop in Klipfontein View Township.

Her advice for aspiring entrepreneurs? “Start a business you are passionate about, because when challenges arise, your passion will be the fuel that keeps you motivated.”
